The tutoring ministry was created to meet the needs of students and parents in our community. Every Thursday night our church provides a free tutoring service to students in 2nd grade through high school.
Tutoring volunteers are members of our church who feel called to work with children to help them succeed in school. Some of these people are engineers, artists, high school students, stay-at-home moms, teachers, retirees, etc...
This is our third year to offer the tutoring ministry and feedback has been very positive. Parents of the students we serve have given us many success stories of how the ministry has helped motivate and
improve the grades of their children. One parent wrote "My son has shown real improvement, not just in his grades, but also in his organizational skills. I work night shift and not having to worry about him studying
on Thursday nights is such a relief to my family. SFUMC truly is ministering to our community and addressing a real need here."
SFUMC is excited that we can provide this service for families. We are serving God
by helping our community... One child at a time...
