Children's Events (Grades 3-5):

Mission Effort from our Children's Ministry 2017-2018

For the 2017-2018 year, our mission focus will be UMCOR Relief Health Kits. We will collect (and eventually assemble) UMCOR Health Relief Kits. UMCOR is a ministry of The United Methodist Church that is dedicated to alleviating human suffering around the globe. UMCOR’s work includes programs and projects in disaster response, health, sustainable agriculture, food security, relief supplies, and more. 

The children will participate and support this organization within The United Methodist Church by working to collect the different supplies necessary for UMCOR Health Kits that will be sent to aid their efforts around the globe. Our goal is for each month throughout the entire year we will designate a different supply item required by UMCOR for the Relief Health Kit, and that we will focus on collecting and do so for the duration of that month. In the Spring after we have collected all the items required, the children will have the opportunity to help assemble the kits.

When do they bring donated items: Children may bring items with them to normally scheduled worship and program times. 

Where are donation drop boxes: Donation Tub locations are on the Main Campus in the Narthex of the Sanctuary, and SFUMC West Campus Room#WD104 (more commonly known as Extreme kids worship room).

Youth Events (Grades 6-12):

November 18, 2017 - Kari Jobe Concert...High School Youth will be going to the Kari Jobe concert on November 18th! They will leave the church at 6 PM and the concert starts at 7 PM. January 12-14, 2018 - Winter Revive Camp...WINTER REVIVE is getting closer and closer! Registration is now open, so sign up soon. Let Zack or Paige know if you have any questions or need forms.  ALL 7th-12th graders (6th graders will be attending Confirmation Retreat).  The cost is $150, which covers transportation, food on the way, and all Revive expenses.  They will just need to bring money for lunch on the way home and for snacks there (optional).  Please note that the venue has been changed from Blue Lake Methodist Camp to Laguna Beach Christian Retreat in Panama City Beach, FL.

Adult Events

October 25, 2017 - Epic of Eden Bible Study (ongoing)...Have you ever  wondered what was the purpose of the Old Testament?  It can feel a little cluttered when we try to make sense of it.  If you have ever wanted to “organize” your thoughts around Old Testament narrative, we will be offering Epic of Eden: Understanding the Old Testament by Sandra Richter.  

This class will be taught by Rev. Rebecca Rutherford and will meet at 6:00 p.m. in WD102 on the West Campus.  The study guide is $23 and will be available in the church office soon.  Please purchase the study guide, and read the first lesson before the first class on October 25th. Class size is limited, so register soon! This is a 12 week study broken up into  6 week segments before and after Christmas break.  Child care available.  Please sign up here in order to reserve your spot!

October 31, 2017 - One Thousand Gifts Bible Study (ongoing)...The Tuesday Women’s Lunch Bunch Bible Study will begin a five week study using Ann Voskamp’s One Thousand Gifts Study Guide on October 31st.  We gather for lunch in the youth area at noon and have class time from 12:30-2:00 PM. Child care is provided.  The study guide (not book) can be purchased on for about $7. No reading ahead of our first class time is required.  Register here!

November 28, 2017 - Grief Share...New! GriefShare Support Group - Our church and community in the past year has endured some devastating loses. Heading into the holidays proves to be an even more difficult time for those grieving a loss of a spouse, child, family member or friend.  GriefShare is a network of thousands of grief recovery support groups meeting around the world. GriefShare is a program with direction and purpose. With GriefShare you will learn how to talk the journey of grief and be supported on the way. It is a place where grieving people find healing and hope in a Christian context.

As a service to our church family and community we are offering a short term group for grief support. This group will meet on Tuesday evenings in WD 101 on the West Campus (by Piggly Wiggly) from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. beginning November 28th and will last for 13 weeks.  This group will be facilitated by Rev. Dr. Jim White, a clinically trained pastoral counselor with many years of counseling experience and a doctorate in pastoral psychotherapy. 

If you know of anyone who might benefit from this support ministry, please invite them to come.  We would ask that you register so that we can have record of those who are coming and make accommodations for anyone who might have need of childcare. Please register by clicking HERE.

Church Wide Events

November 2017 - Sanctuary Renewal Project...Come learn about a proposed project to make repairs and updates to the Sanctuary that will enhance your worship experience.  We are considering packaging several Sanctuary repairs and updates into one cohesive effort so that we only have to vacate the Sanctuary once.

Below, you can check out some of the various reports and testimonials used in creating this project.  Please review these items before attending one of the two informational meetings coming up soon.  Presentations about this exciting opportunity will be made on November 5, 2017 at 10 a.m., after the 8:45 a.m. service and on November 12, 2017 at 12:00 p.m., after the 11:00 a.m. service.  Both presentation meetings will be held in the Sanctuary.  Childcare will be provided for these meetings.

December 17, 2017 - Christmas Cantata...Join us on december 17th for our Christmas Cantata entitled "Joy!".  The Cantata will be held during both services that Sunday morning.
