Mission Effort from our Children's Ministry 2017-2018

For the 2017-2018 year, our mission focus will be UMCOR Relief Health Kits. We will collect (and eventually assemble) UMCOR Health Relief Kits. UMCOR is a ministry of The United Methodist Church that is dedicated to alleviating human suffering around the globe. UMCOR’s work includes programs and projects in disaster response, health, sustainable agriculture, food security, relief supplies, and more.

The children will participate and support this organization within The United Methodist Church by working to collect the different supplies necessary for UMCOR Health Kits that will be sent to aid their efforts around the globe. Our goal is for each month throughout the entire year we will designate a different supply item required by UMCOR for the Relief Health Kit, and that we will focus on collecting and do so for the duration of that month. In the Spring after we have collected all the items required, the children will have the opportunity to help assemble the kits.

If you have questions regarding this effort, please contact Jennifer Robertson, Director of Children’s and Nursery Ministries at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

August 29th - Epic of Eden: Isaiah Bible Study...Often named “the fifth gospel,” the book of the prophet Isaiah has more to say about Israel’s coming Messiah than any other Old Testament book. Brilliant, courageous, uncompromising, this prophet declared that “the year of the LORD” had come and God’s people needed to either step up, or stand down. Indeed, when Isaiah spoke, kings trembled.  But too often, when Isaiah speaks today, God’s people have trouble hearing. Why? We often miss the larger context. In The Epic of Eden: Isaiah, Dr. Sandra Richter takes participants back to the eighth century BCE. This eight-week study explains Israel’s religion and economy, explores the definition and role of the prophets, and helps us to apply the message of this great champion of the faith to our lives today.

Sanctuary Renovation Project

The Sanctuary Renovation Project is moving forward! The work is slated to begin in late June and conclude sometime this Fall.  But we need your financial help now to complete the project. There are commitment cards in the pews as well as in the church bulletin on Sundays for the next few weeks. You can also give on-line HERE.  Thank you for your support, prayers and cooperation as the work to enhance our sanctuary is being accomplished.

Click here for more details on the project.

ONGOING - Worship on the West Campus...Please note! We are meeting for Sunday worship on the West Campus in the Youth Area. This is also the same space where Contemporary Worship met previously. Both worship services, 8:45 AM Traditional and 11:00 AM Contemporary, will be held on the West Campus until the construction and renewal plans in the Sanctuary are complete sometime this Fall.

Plans have been in process to help this transition go as easy as possible. Sunday School classes will continue to meet in the Fellowship Hall and Reed Building as normal. The coffee fellowship time will be transitionally held in the large front gathering room before you enter the Youth/Worship area. There should be plenty of parking spaces in the West Campus lot and both handicapped spaces and senior citizen parking will be designated. If needed for any special Sundays when our congregation may be larger, the lower parking area behind the sanctuary can be used and a shuttle service will be provided. We do not have an exact timeline for the completion of the project but are targeting sometime this Fall. It is difficult to face changes. And we certainly want these changes to be good and positive. But I was reminded of this great truth. Growth always requires change. This is true both spiritually and physically. While the substance of the gospel never changes, the form or expression of the gospel must change for it to be relevant and hold meaning. I have seen too many empty church buildings which remind me of this much too often. So I thank you for your prayers and patience as these changes are happening.
